Abstract

Drought stress is one the main constraints to plant growth. Drought stress can hinder plant growth from the early stages, and if it occurs throughout the plant growth period, it can disrupt metabolic processes and cause permanent tissue damage, preveting the plant from recovering. Effort to address drought stress is by promoting cultiyating varietas the are tolerant to drought stress. This research aims to determine two soybean varieties’ growth and yield responses to drought stress. The research was conducted in Bulotalangi Timur Village, Bulango Timur Subdistrict, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province, from October to Desember 2022. This research employs a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) factorial design consisting of two factors. The first factor was soybean varietas, which included two levels: Agromulyo and Wilis Variety. The second factor was drought stress, which consisted of three levels: Control (irrigation until harvest), No irrigation at 35-46 DAP (Days After Planting), and No irrigation at 42-53 DAP. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a significance level of 5%. The results indicate that the two soybean varieties responded differently in terms of growth and yield. The Agromulyo variety has greater drought stress tolerance than the Wilis variety. The growth and yield of both soybean varieties were hindered under the drought stress condition applied during the 35-46 days after planting (DAP) period.

Abstract

Terracing could be an effective and efficient option in utilizing sloped land for growing corn plants as it affects the growth and production of corn. This research aims at finding out the differences between the growth and production of corn plants treated with terracing on sloped land. This research was conducted from January 8 to march 8, 2020, in Suka Damai Village, Lemito Sub-district, Pohuwato District, Gorontalo Province. The research method applies a randomized block design with three levels of repeated treatments, namely: Control (KO), bench terrace (TB), and ridge terrace (TG). The research parameters are the plant height, seed weight per ear, weight of 1000 seeds, weight of dry bean per terrace, and weight of dry bean per ton/ha. Based on alnalysis of variance, the ridge terrace has a significant effect on the parameters of plant height at the 3rd week and the seed weight per ear. However, it does not have a significant effect on the parameters of plant height at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th , 6th, and 7th weeks, the weight of 1000 seeds, the weight of dry bean per terrace, and weight bean per ton/ha. The corn production reaches 6.92 tons/ha in KO, 6.26 tons/ha in TB, and 7.10 tons/ha in TG.

Abstract

Tanaman jagung manis adalah salah satu komoditas pangan yang semakin populer dan mempunyai prospek penting di Indonesia, karena memiliki rasa yang lebih manis bila dibandingkan dengan jagung biasa, sehingga banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat. Jagung manis mempunyai biji-biji yang berisi endosperm manis, mengkilap, tembus pandang sebelum masak dan berkerut bila kering. Ketersediaan unsur hara bagi tanaman sering menjadi masalah untuk lahan dengan kondisi  defisiensi hara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  pengaruh pemberian  pupuk organik dan anorganik serta yang  memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Dulupi Kabupaten Boalemo Provinsi Gorontalo pada Bulan Oktober 2022 – Januari 2023,  menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) terdiri dari 2 faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu pemberian pupuk organik terdiri dari 3 taraf (Kontrol, 10 ton/ha dan 15 ton/ha) dan faktor kedua yaitu pemberian pupuk anorganik yang terdiri dari 3 taraf (Kontrol, 200 kg/ha dan 400 kg/ha). Hasil penelitian  menunjukan bahwa pemberian pupuk organik berpengaruh terhadap tinggi dan panjang daun tanaman, sedangkan pupuk anorganik berpengaruh terhadap tinggi, panjang daun, jumlah daun, berat berkelobot, berat tanpa kelobot, dan panjang tongkol. Pupuk organik 15 ton/ha dan pupuk anorganik 400 kg/ha memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kesesuaian lahan tanaman Ubi Kayu (Manihot utilisima L) di Desa Bumela, Kecamatan Bilato, dengan fokus pada karakteristik dan kualitas lahan, kelas kesesuaian lahan, serta faktor pembatas dalam pengembangan tanaman Ubi Kayu (Manihot utilisima L). Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Juli hingga Desember 2019, berlokasi di Desa Bumela, Kecamatan Bilato, Kabupaten Gorontalo. Metode matching digunakan untuk memadukan kriteria kesesuaian lahan dengan data kualitas lahan, dengan mempertimbangkan persyaratan tumbuh tanaman untuk mengidentifikasi kelas kesesuaian lahan yang sesuai. Pengolahan data melibatkan analisis karakteristik dan kualitas lahan, evaluasi kesesuaian lahan, identifikasi keunggulan wilayah, dan analisis ekonomi tanaman ubi kayu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di Desa Bumela, Kecamatan Bilato, kelas kesesuaian lahan yang potensial untuk tanaman ubi kayu (Manihot utilisima L) adalah kelas cukup sesuai (S2) dengan luas 80.568 ha atau 61,46%, sesuai marginal (S3) dengan luas 70,63 ha atau 0,53%, dan tidak sesuai (N) dengan luas 30.056 ha atau 22,92%. Kesesuaian lahan ini dipengaruhi oleh faktor pembatas seperti retensi hara, bahaya erosi, lereng, dan media perakaran. Dari hasil analisis keunggulan wilayah Kecamatan Bilato, terdapat dua komoditas unggulan, yaitu jagung dan ubi kayu. Selain itu, analisis ekonomi tanaman ubi kayu menunjukkan nilai R/C ratio yang menguntungkan, yaitu sebesar Rp. 1,23.

ABSTRACT

In Gorontalo Province, the Bulango Ulu irrigation area (D.I.) has the ability to build new paddy fields, although this potential is unknown, as is the level of soil fertility. The purpose of this study is to identify the variety of soil chemical properties and the level of soil fertility in the area. Three steps make up the soil fertility status technique: collecting soil samples on-site using survey and land observation methods, analyzing soil samples in the lab while examining the variety of soil chemical properties, and calculating soil fertility status using the deskwork methods. With the use of ArcGIS version 10, the analysis's output a spatial map of the distribution of soil fertility status in D.I. Bulango Ulu in Gorontalo Province is provided. The findings indicated that D.I. Bulango Ulu, Gorontalo Province still has a poor diversity of soil chemical properties. The fertility of the local soil is likewise poor.
