Abstract

Iloponu Village has the potential for agrobiopharmaceutical development, but has not been developed optimally. The development of agrobiopharmaceuticals is not only beneficial for health but has economic value that can increase people's income. Biopharmaceutical plants such as eucalyptus have the potential to become land conservation plants. This service activity aims to conduct field observations of problems and alternative solutions by implementing participatory technology development and community development, as well as making persuasive and educational efforts to the community in the development of agrobiopharmaceuticals based on land conservation in Iloponu Village. This community service activity uses the following methods: (1) field observation, (2) participatory technology development, (3) community development through training and mentoring, (4) persuasively by jointly building bioprime holes, and (5) educative through the planting of eucalyptus plants together. The development of agrobiopharmaceuticals in the form of making local community medicinal gardens is carried out in locations with priorities for Dusun II, III and IV (priority 1) and Hamlet I (priority 2). Community knowledge and skills increased by more than 80%. Efforts to conserve land based on agrobiopharmaceuticals are carried out together with the community by making biopore holes and planting eucalyptus plants. Field observations help identify problems and set priorities for land conservation-based agrobiopharmaceutical development activities, while participatory technology development has resulted in local community medicine gardens and community development has increased the knowledge and skills of residents in agrobiopharmaceutical development. Persuasive efforts have been carried out by making biopore holes in the yard and agricultural land, while public education has been carried out by planting eucalyptus plants in Iloponu Village.

Abstract

This research aims at finding out the response of corn plants, varieties of Motorikiki in several slope classes, and corn cropping patterns and figuring out the interaction between several slope classes and corn cropping patterns of corn plants, varieties of motorikiki. This research was conducted from April to August 2019 in Talumopatu Village, Mootilango Sub-district, Gorontalo Disticrt. The treatments employing split plot design and main plot comprising L1 0-8% (40x40), T1 (50x50 and 15x15 cm), T2 (75x75 and 20x20), T3 (100x100 and 20x20 cm), T4 (100x100 and 15x15 cm) are repeated three times to obtain 45 plot treatment . Data analysis ti tested using Duncan at significance level of 5%. Findings reveal that the slope classes of L3 15-25% with cropping pattern of T2 75x75 cm affect the growth and production of corn combined with peanut plants of 20 x 20 cm. there is also an interaction between the slope class treatments  of 15-25% and cropping patterns of T2 75 x 75 cm on the growth and production of corn plants.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of land use change toward land quality and production. This research is conducted in Bolangitang Timur Sub-district, Bolaang Mongondow Utara District starting from July 04 to September 11, 2020. This study applies the minipit method for soil sampling, and questionnaires that are distributed to farmares who did land use change in the research area. There are 17 samples of soil and 14 samples of questionnaires which represent the research area, and this study uses secondary data that obtain from image and map of regional spatial planning. The results show that the quality of land that affects production are oC temperature, Rainfall, Wet Month, Dry Month, CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity), and Base Saturation, Factors that influence land-use change are land converted due to public donation, land converted due to economic grants, land converted due to building houses, the impacts of land use change that occur are the quality of agricultural land and crop production is reduced.

Keywords: Land use, change, impact, land quality, production.

Abstract

Maize local of Motorokiki variety is a Gorontalo germplasm which is cultivated more dominantly on sloping land with low productivity. This study was aimed to determine the growth and yield of local maize on several slope classes and doses of NPK fertilizer, and their combination on the growth and yield of local maize in Payu, Gorontalo. This study used a split-plot design with the main plot of slope class and sub-plots of NPK fertilizer dosage. The main plot of the slope class consisted of flat slopes (0-8%), wavy (8-15%), hilly (15-35%) and mountainous (>35%), while sub-plots with NPK fertilizer dosage consisted of 0 kg ha-1, 50 kg ha-1, 100 kg ha-1, 150 kg ha-1 and 200 kg ha-1. The parameters measured included plant height, leave numbers, male and female flowering age, cob length, and weight of corn kernels. Data were analyzed by the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level. The results showed that maize growth was significantly affected by slope class and NPK fertilizer dosage with the best combination of wavy slope and 50 kg ha-1 fertilizer dosage. In maize yield, only maize seed weight was significantly affected by slope class, while in NPK fertilization only on male and female flowering age with the best combination of flat slope class and 100 kg ha-1 fertilizer dosage.

Abstract

Terracing could be an effective and efficient option in utilizing sloped land for growing corn plants as it affects the growth and production of corn. This research aims at finding out the differences between the growth and production of corn plants treated with terracing on sloped land. This research was conducted from January 8 to march 8, 2020, in Suka Damai Village, Lemito Sub-district, Pohuwato District, Gorontalo Province. The research method applies a randomized block design with three levels of repeated treatments, namely: Control (KO), bench terrace (TB), and ridge terrace (TG). The research parameters are the plant height, seed weight per ear, weight of 1000 seeds, weight of dry bean per terrace, and weight of dry bean per ton/ha. Based on alnalysis of variance, the ridge terrace has a significant effect on the parameters of plant height at the 3rd week and the seed weight per ear. However, it does not have a significant effect on the parameters of plant height at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th , 6th, and 7th weeks, the weight of 1000 seeds, the weight of dry bean per terrace, and weight bean per ton/ha. The corn production reaches 6.92 tons/ha in KO, 6.26 tons/ha in TB, and 7.10 tons/ha in TG.

Keywords: the efficacy of terracing, corn plants.
